Among my interests is a desire to further develop a practice that relates to both dance and video. What I enjoy is trying to transfer the sensorial in dancing to video. I often collect images and snippets from very different places, which allows me to put together a larger fantasy that surrounds the dance itself. The timeline in an editing programme becomes a kind of vent where everything can spill out and be organised. I feel that working with images and how images feel and feelings are imaged is more about expressing an experience of dance that is magnified, than trying to represent some kind of dance.
october 2024 me and dancer, benjamin pohlig were guests at kunsthuset kabuso, a gallery and house of culture located in Øystese, hardanger. due to family connections i have spent a lot of time in the area during summers and other holidays.
we were working in the gallery every day on some ideas that came out of luft, when i worked in kristiansand kunsthall. i had been thinking about hands for some time, soft hands, and soft body, and i was interested in looking to make something beautiful for benjamin. a quality of softness, and of stroking air and touching light.
we worked for a week, and at the end of each working day we opened the doors to whoever wanted to watch. we put together a structure out of what we had been working with that day to show.
looking back i enjoyed the sort of scrappy put together performances, and if i would do it again, i would have it last for a longer period of time, and even have less structure and expectations.
